Pixelational.. yeah, this is where the name came from, Pixel + Traditional. i was in love with Pixel Art that time, and decide to transform any traditional pattern i found into pixel art, you can found 1 pattern i submitted to www.k10k.net long time ago.. i still have all the collection with me, maybe i should publish it somewhere someday..
damn thats old-skool.. still designing for 800x600 resolution, sticky header/footer, css-background tricks for the shadow overlapping with background pattern, 2 column with calendar..etc i dont know about ClearType font rendering that time, thats why all fonts are pixelated, no anti-aliasing.. haha! i think i can improve something on this concept design, hmm.. should spend more time on it, since MT4 has been released, i could upgrade this design for my new website!
(enough talking Pai, you can complete clients site on time, but you never finish your design for your own site.. blah la wei!) heh! what a life..

Breaking News:
Matt replied my email, and now i consider the case has been solved..
Anyway, the site site design has been changed.

not a good news for todays entry. yup, the title says it all.. the DiscoverBorneo website that i developed few months ago, has been ripped-off.. :-/ i dont know whatelse to say..
side-by-side..

for more details, here's the full-resolution..
sux huh.. ive been taught long time ago when i begin to learn how to build a website, is to find your favourite website, check out their source-code, and study it.. i admit, and i dare to say that most of the web coders out there is doing the same thing, which is studying others source-code, BUT, none of us were told to Copy & Paste the source code, and use it for our final website. the concept of studying people's source code is just for LEARNING PURPOSE ONLY. when u begin to understand the whole thing, then you can start build your own, it doesnt matter if you still using others source code as your references, as long you design your code on your own.. am i right?!
take a piece of code from here, copy some portion of code from there, change the css, change the color, change the overall look..etc then combine it into your own set of codes, it doesnt matter! as long as you know what you're doing, and how it will look like, and u know how to control the output.. trust me, you will come out with your own identity someday if you keep doing that and respect others masterpiece.. im cool with that, BUT what do you feel when you noticed that your code is almost 100% ripped-off?! in this case, the xhtml code, i dont mind coz you can find the same layout everywhere on the net, BUT, the CSS? even the filename of the CSS?! javascript, i dont mind.. it's available everywhere.. but those image files? come one...
why im so sure it was copied almost 100%? well, i know my code, every #ID i use means something to me, and mean something to the website.. in this site i begin with #malaysia as the main container, then there's 2 column, i use #borneo on the left for content, and #sabah for the sidebar.. then in the sidebar, there's another content, and i declare a set of style with the id #papar.. it's all related.. Malaysia » Borneo » Sabah » Papar (my hometown).. judge yourself..

Some chicken soup for the soul:i admit im angry with this, im pissed-off, and dissapointed..
but no use for me to explode, $#it happened everyday..Matthew The designer,
if you're reading this, i want you to understand.. 'stealing is killing'.. you want to use any website as reference, thats fine.. but taking almost all of the websites element (images, codes, css..etc) is "not fine"! if you wanna succeed in this industry, you have to work hard. respect everybodyelse and i can assure you, you will earn peoples respect.. take this as an advise and reminder for yourself.. if you learned something from this, do what you have to do..
i went to 7-11 downstairs just now to grab some junk 'lite' food as im not in the mood for a 'heavy' meal right now.. then near the entrance door is where they sell all their magazines and newspaper, i saw Harian Metro frontpage, and something attracted me.. i look carefully at the column and captured one keyword for me to Google after this, yup! Negarakuku..
while looking at those search result, i was like "okay.. somethings spicy is going on.. whats all about with this 'Negarakuku' thing?" i said.. ok, i check each of the top result, the YouTube video for this keyword have been removed.. next, check another result (people who blog about it earlier), ok, i find something... after reading, and scrolling, and reading, and scrolling, and clicking, and reading, and clicking, and downloading, and watching and listening, now i understand the whole thing... find the clip yourself, you know what to do..
if you dont understand the rap part, you can read this translation by Nicole Foo. However, just to remind you..
this translation is only her interpretation of the song’s lyrics and she have no way of digging into Namewee mind to know what he meant for sure. The underlined paragraphs is her interpretation from a view point of a Malaysian Chinese. Whereas the italics are the actual lyrics of our national anthem in Malay.
Senang crita, this is a remixed version of Malaysia national anthem, Negaraku.. which the music was remixed a guy name by Wee Meng Chee, and named it Negarakuku. in this song, he expressed "everything" he feels about Malaysia, from his point of view as a Malaysian Chinese. ok, relax aa.. i know what you're thinking..
1st thing i want to tell you, im not racist. im proud to live in Sabah where i can mixed around and make friends with all kind of people.. chinese, indian, kadazan, murut, dusun, bajau, bugis, brunei, bisaya, sungai..etc you name it.. and honestly, i hate racism.. seriously.. i am malay-brunei, and i also got some chinese-melanau blood flowing in my vein.. what the heck? raysizem..ceh!
anyway, 1 thing i noticed is some people misunderstood between race and religion. i dont know how it was like over there.. come on, race is race.. religion is religion.. when you point out about something that's related to religion, dont just point to specific race. and another thing, when you're not satisfied with someone, dont simply blame, aim or attack their race (or religion). thats is so wrong.. this the common mentality nowadays, "melayu malas kerja, cina hard working rajin cari duit".. remember, dont stick to this statement coz the reality is MORE than that! what i mean by MORE? ok, do you believe me if i said that the statement above could be vice-versa? dont believe me? nevermind.. i agree with the statement, BUT IT IS NOT COMPLETE! u want to say malay malas, ive seen the hard-working malay.. u want to say only chinese is hardworking? ive meet few of them yg malas. sound ridiculous? no.. thats the truth..
whats the point actually?
"In Malaysia, no matter what race, there's always a lazy one, hardworking one, nice one, bad one..etc ALL OF US ARE THE SAME!" stop comparing people based on race.. if some crime happened in this area, we point it to this race.. if we heard about gangsterism, first thing in our head is their race.. when we read about something in the newspaper, it could be this race.. come on la... stop all the crap mentality.. think about it.. God create us with so many culture so we can learn and share it among each other, not to 'kill' each other.. you should be glad this country is not involve in any war.. appreciate what we have.. inequality happened everywhere on earth, there's a lot more worst scenario out there.. we're so lucky!
P/S: had a lot of caffeine last nite, maybe thats why i wrote so many nonsense thing with broken english today..
well, it's just what i think, what i feel, and whats in my mind at this time.. thats all.. :)
August 9th, 2008 - Entry Edited into something'else'.. thanks J!
